The Converse Dunkit is the re-badged version of the Wade Clutch 2 which was scrapped when Dwyane Wade left the company to endorse Jordan Brand last summer. The shoe features the same essential upper design and Weapon Evo tooling as the original Wade Clutch 2 samples but with the replacement of the Wade logo on the tongue for the Converse Star icon and a stitched on tab with five stars embroidered on it located on the lateral collars. James Martin over at TheConverseBlog.NET has spotted the shoes for sale currently at Academy Sports and Big 5 Sporting Goods. Continue reading for more detailed images of the Converse Dunkit.

Before Dwyane Wade made his sudden switch from Converse to Jordan Brand last summer, a full slate of Wade-branded Converse product was already in production. One of those models was the Wade Clutch 2, which was named after D-Wade’s late game heroics. The shoe features a full grain leather upper, inner mesh booty sleeve, and uses the same tooling and Balls Technology as the Converse Weapon Evo. Originally designated as a Dick’s Sporting Goods exclusive model, the shoes have all been de-badged of Wade logo placements, most prominently the Wade-as-Converse-Star icon on the tongue, and is currently hitting retail doors as the “Converse Dunkit”. Images of a sample pair of unreleased Converse Elton Brand shoes have surfaced recently. The shoe maintains the midfoot strap design cues from the previous Converse EB1 and EB2 models, and features the interlocking “EB” logo embroidered on the perforated cross strap along with the number “42″ applied to the rear of the shoe. At the heel, Converse’s current “Balls Technology” cushioning system (which you can read more in our interview with Michael DiTullo, Design Director at Converse) has been employed. Whether or not this may be Elton Brand’s “EB3″ signature shoe for next season has not been confirmed, but we’ll keep you updated on any related news. With the sudden switch by Dwyane Wade last summer from Converse to Jordan Brand, it left many sneaker watchers wondering what the fate of the already-in-production Converse WADE 5 signature shoe would be. Today, we get one possibility: A replaced chassis stacked underneath a stripped WADE 5 upper. As compared to the original WADE 5 samples, this new version carries the exact same material base with various alterations such as the removal of the TPU lace holder design element and de-badging such as the disconnection of the “Wade-as-Converse-Star” emblem as seen on the original model replaced simply by the official Converse Star logo on this pair. To complete the transformation, the existing Weapon Evo midsole/outsole tooling is used. Read our interview with Michael DiTullo, Converse Design Director, for the backstory on the Weapon Evo design.
