Reebok is set to launch a brand new footwear technology called ZigTech, which the company calls an “energy drink for your feet“. The shoe is designed with a new lightweight foam that’s engineered into a geometric, zig-zag shape that’s supposed to absorb heel strike impact and return the energy forward throughout the length of the shoe to propel the wearer forward. The new technology causes up to 20% less wear and tear on key leg muscles, most notably in the shins and hamstrings, according to Reebok.
“Traditional energy return is focused only on the vertical impact of the heel strike,” said Reebok’s Head of Advanced Innovation, Bill McInnis. “In contrast, ZigTech is designed to transfer energy horizontally along the zigs so the athlete gets that energy back in the forefoot.”
Reebok ZigTech officially takes off on March 11th at a retail price of $100. Continue reading for more detailed images of the shoes and multiple colorways of the Reebok ZigTech.
