I am most motivated when I learn how another creative-type developed their product; their product could be music, painting, fashion, architecture, or any other art form. I love hearing their whole process and what made them step back and approach the project in a unique way. As a designer I tend to break everything down to a meaning. I believe that everything has a reason and nothing is random. To me design is a constant balance of story and performance. You can have the best performing footwear on the planet but if it looks bad it won’t be worn. You can also have the most beautiful footwear on the planet but if it performs like crap it won’t be worn. It’s a constant balance and to me the perfect balance is the Air Jordan XIII. Li-Ning is holding its first official U.S. store grand opening today in Portland’s Pearl District (910 NW Hoyt Street). A special one hour shopping session will be open to the public from 5:30-6:30PM which we detailed here. From 7-10PM, a closed session, invite-only gathering for media will take place which Counter Kicks will be bringing you in-depth coverage on.
