The Chinese New Year is less than two weeks away and Nike Sportswear has set out to commerate this occasion with the release of a special edition of the Cortez Classic. Above is a video showcasing both the shoe as well as its unique packaging. The box features an opening that must be pulled with all 5 fingers to open. You can get your paws on one of the 200 limited edition pairs with custom box on February 10th, while those who don’t mind tearing apart the more traditional orange Nike wrapping can grab theirs on February 13th. Billet Video Studios shot this nice digital cut featuring many of the heads that showed up at Nike Sportswear’s 21 Mercer location for a live session and sneaker launch with DJ Clark Kent. The engineers at Nike are working hard at all times to find ways to innovate in their products to adhere to the constant demands of their athletes, the everyday consumer, and the environment. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it. Enter the new Air Max BW Gen II and Nike Torch technology. Nike Torch takes on characteristics of three separate components found on athletic footwear. The diamond-like exterior protects and retains the shape of the sneaker. A middle layer provides added support. Finally, an inner layer wicks moisture and provides breathability. On top of this, the Air Max BW Gen II will also be produced under Nike’s Considered guidelines which place an emphasis on environmentally sustainable design. The Air Max BW won’t be the only shoe undergoing a Torch-over; look for this technology used in favorites such as the Air Force 1 and the Air Maxim 1 as 2010 progresses. Nike Blazer Mid 09 – Square Mesh Pack

Nike Sportswear’s 2010 collection will include these Nike Blazer Mids. This pack is being called the Square Mesh Pack because of the material that is used on each sneaker. Each shoe features the upper being one solid color along with a white vulcanized sole. Patent leather also compliments both the Swoosh and back collar area. There have been one pair released in a Men’s colorway (red) and two pairs released in a Women’s style (pink and purple). More colorways will be released in the upcoming weeks to compliment this pack. Wood Wood x Nike Sportswear LunarWood TZ

Swedish label Wood Wood joins in on Nike’s hybrid revolution with the introduction of the LunarWood, a combination of the classic Wildwood ACG upper with a Lunar Sole. In a short statement with Beinghunted, Wood Wood mentions the world of grafitti and nocturnal expeditions as inspiration for the shoe: “Whereas the original Wildwood was designed mostly for the purpose of running in nature, this project is all about the city. Since we rarely go hiking in the mountains, we wanted to bring the shoe into an urban environment.” The LunarWood is slated for a mid-December release. Continue reading for more images.

Nike Sportswear Blazer High V Lux

The iconic Nike Blazer has been given the Lux treatment. These kicks are draped in premium leather uppers with five velcro straps for the closure system and no lining on the interior, which helps to give a slim, fashionable approach to the silhouette.
